Man Kills Wife For Rituals In Lagos Buries Her Body In A Shallow Grave

Follow @NigeriaPI Body exhumed for investigation Men of the Nigeria Police in Lagos have exhumed the body of a woman who was allegedly killed by her husband and buried in a shallow grave. Sherifat Bello is suspected to have been killed for ritual purpose at Ijora, Lagos, by Shakiru Bello, last Monday. The offence was committed inside an uncompleted building in the area. Police sources said it was not Bello’s first attempt to kill his wife. An earlier attempt which involved the suspect inserting charm in the woman’s private part had led to their separation, sources said. However, the wife contacted Bello last week to ask for upkeep allowance for their three children. The suspect agreed to give her the money but asked her to come and collect it at a particular place in Ebute Metta, Lagos. Once they met at the designated place, they both moved to Ijora where he allegedly pounced on her. She died on the spot and the suspect allegedly proceeded to dismember her corpse apparently to remove certain parts of her body. He thereafter buried her remains in shallow grave and bolted from the scene. He then headed to his hometown, Ibadan, so that he might not be suspected of the murder. When the victim failed to return home, her relations raised the alarm, refusing to be deceived by Bello’s trip to Ibadan. The police were contacted and Bello was arrested. He confessed that he murdered Sherifat and led the police to the shallow grave. Recovered from the grave in the presence of a large crowd of people yesterday were the head, two hands...

Customer steals two-month -old baby in Lagos market

Follow @NigeriaPI The abduction of a two-month-old baby, Kudus Adebowale, by a customer has unsettled traders at a market in the Badagry Roundabout area of Lagos State. Kudu’s mother, Mrs. Alimat Adebowale, sells biscuits in the market, while the suspected abductor was identified simply as T-girl. PUNCH Metro learnt that T-girl was well known to most of the traders in the market and had lived in the community for over four years until a few months ago when she travelled. T-girl was said to have returned to the neighbourhood last week and went to the market, where she was treated to a warm reception around 9am on Thursday. It was gathered that she approached Alimat, who was breastfeeding the baby, Kudus, and took the child under the guise of playing with him. She reportedly strapped Kudus to her back afterwards and sat on a chair behind his mother, who was busy attending to customers. “Nobody knew when she (T-girl) disappeared from the market with the baby. The mother had looked back to check on Kudus, when she discovered that she had left the market with her child. We called her number, but she didn’t pick our calls. That was when it occurred to us that she had stolen the baby. “I don’t really blame Iya Kudus. She thought the child was in a safe hand because almost everybody here knows T-girl. She would come to buy things here and play with us. She is from Ibadan (Oyo State) and had lived here for more than four years before she travelled some months ago. She came back last week,” a...
