Security man organises hoodlums to rob employer’s company

A security officer with an auto shop in Ikoyi area of Lagos State has been arrested for allegedly organising a robbery attack on the company.

The security man, Bala Usman, was reported to have facilitated the theft of one of the vehicles in the company.

Metro gathered that four other people who took part in the invasion of the auto shop had also been arrested, while investigations had commenced into the whole incident.

One of the suspects was reportedly arrested while attempting to sell the stolen car, a Honda Crosstour Sports Utility Vehicle worth N6 million for N2 million.

Metro also gathered that the trouble started brewing for the gang when one of them, Chika (other name withheld) was arrested around Ire Akari area of Isolo, Lagos State while trying to dispose of the vehicle.

A police source at the Ire Akari police station told Metro that “we got a hint that Chika was trying to sell the vehicle at a ridiculously low price.”

He added that “the DPO instantly drafted a decoy to the area and it was discovered that he was trying to sell the vehicle at about N4 million less than the current price.”

The police source also said that “the people around the area were very surprised that with the high exchange rate of dollar, someone would want to sell the vehicle at that price. When he was confronted by the policemen, he could not convince them on the source of the vehicle and was arrested and taken to the station.

“It was at the station that he confessed that it was a security man at the auto shop where the vehicle was stolen who gave his gang the key to the vehicle.”

Metro learnt that Chika’s confessional statement led to the arrest of the security man, Usman who, in turn, facilitated the arrest of  Abubakar, Chile and Ekene (surnames withheld).

When contacted, the state’s police spokesperson, Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the arrest of the suspects and said they would soon be arraigned in court.
