The Ondo State Police Command said it had arrested no fewer than 14 people in connection with the cult clashes which occurred in Ondo town, Ondo State on Friday and Sunday.
No fewer than nine people reportedly lost their lives while several other people sustained injuries on Friday and Monday during clashes of suspected members of rival cult groups.
It was learnt that the clash was between cult groups known as Afee Cult and Eiye confraternity, each of which had lost its members to the clash.
The Public Relations Officer of the police command, Mr. Femi Joseph, who spoke on Wednesday, said all the suspects would be prosecuted.
Joseph did not disclosed the names of the suspects but said they (suspects) were arrested in various locations in the ancient Ondo town after the incidents.
He said, ” We have so far arrested about 14 people, we are still arresting and we will continue to arrest them until we arrest all of them. We are preparing to take them to court.”
The PPRO further stated that the men of the command had been deployed in the town to flush out the hoodlums.
He however denied the reports that the command lost some of its officers to the clash, saying ” none of our officers and men died in the clash.”
