Follow @NigeriaPI Embattled former National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Mohamed Dasuki on Friday alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari was behind his unlawful arrest and detention without trial since December 29, 2015. Dasuki who spoke through his counsel, Mr. Joseph Daudu (SAN) at an Abuja High Court, claimed that President Buhari instigated his detention unjustly through his comment on Presidential Media Chat in December 2015. In an affidavit filed in support of his application at the court, the Ex-NSA claimed that the President betrayed the emotion during the Presidential Media Chat when he openly told Nigerians that he (Dasuki) and Nnamdi Kanu could not be allowed on bail because they would jump bail. Dasuki stated that he had been held incommunicado since his re-arrest and has been prevented from filing effective defence because of his continued detention by DSS without having access to his lawyers. He therefore asked Justice Peter Affen to stop his further trial until the federal government purged itself of the contempt of court. Dasuki’s lawyer presented several newspaper cuttings in support of his motion to stop the Defendant’s trial adding that the newspaper publications were the comments of President Buhari during the Presidential Media Chat to the effect that he (Dasuki) and Nnamdi Kanu should not be allowed to go home even if granted bail by any court and that the publications have not been refuted by the Presidency. However in opposing the application, the counsel to the Federal Government, Mr. Rotimi Jacob said the newspaper publications were not tenable before the court because they have not been certified as required by law. Jacob informed the court that the charge against Dasuki was at the...

Follow @NigeriaPI The former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Lamorde, has said that the warrant of arrest issued him by the Senate is invalid until theCourt of law decides on his case. He made this known on Thursday in statement by his Lawyer, Festus Keyamo asking the Police and other law enforcement agencies to disregard the Senate order for his arrest. Lamorde stated that it was unconstitutional for the Senate to deliberate a matter that was still in Court. He said that he would appear before the Senate or any of its Committees if the court decides against him. The statement reads in part: “Both the Senate and the Committee were served with the Originating Summons and a Motion seeking an Interlocutory Injunction restraining the Senate from continuing with their investigations pending the determination of the suit. “The processes were served on them on 20th November, 2015, but since then, they have refused, ignored and failed to file any process in defence of the suit. In any event, the Senate Standing Rules are clear to the effect that matters pending before a court of law should not be deliberated upon or discussed on the floor of the Senate or any of its Committee “Whilst there is no restriction on the powers of a court of law to issue a Warrant of Arrest against anybody who fails to honour its Summons, the Senate’s own rules forbid it to do anything in respect of matters that are pending in a court of law. “The conducts of the Senate and the Committee amount to legislative rascality as they...

Follow @NigeriaPI Government Gazette: This is a document that records and states the areas the government has willingly given to the family and community to sell and that the government will not acquire it for what so ever reason except it duly notifies the world. The major characteristics of a gazette on provides 2 things. 1. The Area e.g Ilupeju 2. The coordinates e.g the Beacon Numbers that separates where the Land given to the family starts and stops. This is Known as an Excision. That means in a whole portion of land lets say 10 PLOTS, Government has excised 4 to the family and has taken 6 plots for its own use. Those 4 Plots will now be documented in a book form known as a Gazette. Its the Coordinates you will get to know where the 4 plots start and ends. You can never know with a unclothed Eye! Now the danger of the Gazette that i have seen in my experience is that people who see the gazette, jump up and down and accept it whole line and sinker and proceed to pay to the family because that area is listed in the gazette and they believe that area is free. Thats very wrong and dangerous. It is only an Alausa Surveyor that can come to that gazetted area, map out the coordinates and tell you precisely whether your property falls inside the gazette or not. I have seen places where people purchased the lands that are outside the gazetted excision and still believe they are inside the gazetted excision coordinates. I have seen lazy lawyers...

Follow @NigeriaPI Remember the 50 year old man who asked a surrogate to carry his fertilized eggs for him in the hopes of having a child only for her to end up being pregnant with triplets which he asked her to abort because he couldn’t afford to take care of 3 children? Well, she gave birth to all 3 children on Monday in a California hospital, and is now seeking parental rights. The babies were delivered several weeks premature Monday night, according to a lawyer for Melissa Cook, who is the 47-year-old surrogate mother. That man, a deaf, 50-year-old postal worker from Georgia identified in court papers as “C.M.,” paid Cook to carry a child for him. “I’m healthy, I’m 28 weeks pregnant, the babies are doing great, the three little boys I have inside me,” Cook told Fox News outside court earlier this month before they were born. In California, a gestational surrogate – a woman who carries a donor’s eggs – has no parental rights, but Cook is challenging the state’s surrogacy law in federal court, claiming it is unconstitutional. Cook’s lawyer, Harold Cassidy, a nationally prominent pro-life and anti-surrogacy lawyer said: “It’s an attempt to reduce women to an object, or a breeding animal,” charges who is calling for a moratorium on surrogacy’. “You can doctor this up, you can play word games with it, but this is simply and purely the sale of a child,” he added. Cassidy told Fox News the babies were immediately taken from Cook as soon as they were born, because a state court judge had granted the father parental rights, a ruling Cassidy is appealing. “The hospital personnel refused...

Follow @NigeriaPI The Senate on Thursday uncovered N5 billion shortfall in the amount allocated as meal subsidy for Unity Schools as well as personnel cost of Kings College in the 2016 budget proposal submitted by President Muhammadu Buhari. The Senate noted that only N6.8 billion was proposed for meal subsidy in unity school, instead of N11.2 billion needed. It also noted that the amount was grossly inadequate for the Unity Schools meal subsidy. According to the senate, the implication was that the amount provided would only serve for six months, after which N5 billion would be needed to meet up with the shortfall. Disclosing this during collation of the 2016 budget of Senate Committee on Basic and Secondary Education to the Senate Committee on Appropriation, Vice Chairman of Committee on Education, Senator Rose Oko, said there was the omission of N338 million from the personnel cost of Kings College, adding that instead of N375 million, the ministry budgeted N37 million due to typographical error. However, the Chairman of Senate Committee on Appropriation, Senator Danjuma Goje, promised that his committee would accommodate the omission in the final...

Follow @NigeriaPI Most Beautiful Girl In Nigeria 1992, Sandra Petgrave and her husband, George Chukwuka, have been sentenced to jail in the US for their roles in a $5.8 million mortgage fraud that spanned 5 years. Sandra and Chiedu have six children together. Investigations by FBI showed that Chiedu led the fraud ring that operated from 2006 to 2011. Sandra was sentenced to one and a half years imprisonment while her husband was sentenced to 9 years in jail. Below is how FBI reported their sentencing.. “Chiedu “George” Chukwuka has been sentenced in connection with his lead role in a mortgage fraud ring that spanned five years and caused millions in losses. Chukwuka, along with his co-defendants and other co-conspirators, engaged in a massive property-flipping scheme resulting in over $5.8 million in actual losses to financial institutions between 2006 and 2011. “At the height of the recent mortgage-fraud crisis, this property-flipping scheme caused scores of homes to fall into foreclosure, costing financial institutions millions of dollars in losses,” said U.S. Attorney John Horn. “Many communities in our district have been decimated by mortgage fraud during the last 15 years and even now struggle to recover from the effects of these schemes.” “The sentencing of Mr. Chukwuka brings to a close a lengthy investigation and prosecution of a criminal enterprise that targeted the banking industry through their prolific mortgage fraud schemes. Mr. Chukwuka, considered by law enforcement and prosecution to be head of this enterprise, caused extensive damage with high loss amounts to those victim banks involved. The FBI is pleased with the role it played in bringing about this...

Follow @NigeriaPI Certificate of Occupancy, Government Allocation, Governors Consent: These 3 are the dream lands or properties you can buy from with no stress or wahala what so ever. Any property that has any of the 3 is a very Good property to buy and to search them in Alausa is very easy because the records are there. In most situations, i will encourage you to look for properties that have a Global C/O, Private Certificate of Occupancy, Government Allocation or Governors Consent. Its so easy to perfect your papers in Future and your most likely in Most situations going to get compensated from the Government in case anything goes wrong if they attempt to acquire it or query it. The only problems i have seen is that most properties or lands with a C/O, Government consent or Government allocation letter are quite expensive because of the paper work that has been done thoroughly by the present seller and it almost eliminates omonile from the transaction in most cases. So because the owners know that they have correct papers, they market and sell their properties quite high too because they are selling you gold. But then again you need your lawyer to help you negotiate favourably to make sure the property becomes yours. The second problem is the issue of fake C/Os, Government Allocation Letters and Governors Consent. In my experience i have seen more than enough fake documents and these agents or omoniles would be so bold enough to dare you to go and check it in Alausa. They will so brain wash you and brag about its...

Follow @NigeriaPI A 25-year-old casual worker, Raphael Nwoye, on Tuesday allegedly went on the rampage in the Ajao Estate area of Lagos State, stabbing a 33-year-old colleague, Ifeanyi Onuoha, to death for insulting his lover, and injuring two others who tried to make peace. PUNCH Metro learnt that 33-year-old Onuoha was stabbed in the neck and in the back at about 8am on Niyi Ogunbameru Street after the suspect claimed that Onuoha had been rude to his lover, identified only as Ngozi, on several occasions. Our correspondent gathered that Nwoye, who was one of the casual workers who usually offloaded containers, had had an altercation with Onuoha a few weeks back over Ngozi and had warned the deceased to desist from insulting his lover. It was learnt that on Tuesday, when Onuoha, also a casual worker, came into the area to see whether there were containers to offload, there was a fresh argument over Ngozi. It was said that Nwoye, who had a knife in a bag he carried, rushed at Onuoha and stabbed him in the neck and in the back. The deceased reportedly moved away while two bystanders, one of them identified only as Kenneth, tried to hold the suspect to prevent further attack. An angry Nwoye was said to have allegedly stabbed the two peacemakers, prompting a resident to quickly alert the Ajao Estate Police Division to the bloody fight on the street. Onuoha, Kenneth and the third victim, whose name had yet to be ascertained, were said to have rushed to the Isolo General Hospital. While Onuoha died before reaching the hospital, the two others...

Follow @NigeriaPI The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) on Monday 22 February, 2016 arraigned the duo of Eke Chukwudi Kingsley and Simon Onyekachi Ononobi before Justice L.C. Azuama of the State High Court Orlu, Imo State on a six count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing to the tune of (N21, 020.000.00) twenty one million, twenty thousand naira, contrary to section 495 (a) of the Criminal Code Law Cap 30 of Imo State. Kingsley and Simon were staff of a new generation bank, before they were arrested for the allege crime. They allegedly conspired and changed the account mandate of Irewolede Housing Estate belonging to Kwara State Government and converted the said sum to their personal use. They both pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against them. One of the counts read: “Eke Chukwudi Kingsley, Simon Onyekachi and others now at large, on or about the 24th day of March 2014, at Orlu, within the jurisdiction of the High Court of Orlu, in Imo State, with intent to defraud, stole the sum of N4,660,000.00 (Four Million Six Hundred and Sixty Thousand Naira) through electronic transfer from Account No 0020721044 belonging to Kwara State Irewolede Housing Estate domiciled with Access Bank Nigeria Plc. and thereby committed an offence”. In view of the accused persons’ plea, the prosecuting counsel Mbachie Innocent asked for a trial date. The defense counsel Ben U. Nwanegbo on the other hand, applied for bail of his clients which was opposed by the prosecuting counsel on the grounds that they could jump bail. Justice Azuama however granted them bail in the sum of N900,000 and...

Follow @NigeriaPI An epic drama played out in Nkwerre, Imo state on February 11, as a woman, Ngozi Madukaife-Akano, stormed a marriage ceremony with her relations to stop the wedding of her husband to another woman. The marriage ceremony was disrupted when Ngozi, a UK-trained nurse, stormed the venue with her relatives and caused a steer, suspending momentarily the marriage proceedings. It was learnt that her husband of 20 years, a Nigerian and UK-based medical doctor identified as Dr. Chin Akano, had left the UK for Nigeria to secretly marry a new bride. According to eyewitness account, hell was let loose when a fight ensued and the new bride and her sisters attacked Ngozi and tore her clothes to shreds. Meanwhile, as the fight continued, the husband sat down dazed in one corner and observed the whole drama playing out before him. Elders at the gathering were said to have put a halt to the whole drama as they reportedly led the furious wife out of the premises. Ahead of the controversial marriage, the lady ( the new wife) had posted on her Instagram page @obyjenny, a picture of herself dressed in a blue pair of jean relaxing inside the couple’s apartment in Imo. Infuriated by the post, the ‘old wife’, Ngozi, called out to Jenny on the social media, saying, “Let me sound a note of warning to you woman of easy virtue. “You have the guts to take photos in my home and post on social media. “You defiled my home the temple of God in December, now you’re planning to marry my husband on the 11th...
