Follow @NigeriaPI Kidnappers suspected to be militant have stormed Isheri North area of Lagos, shoot for about five hours before kidnapping one and killing five security guards. It was learnt that the abductors numbering about 11, were in the creek shooting sporadically since 7pm before they finally stormed the residence of the secretary of the Estate, Mr. Dayo Adekoya, around 11pm on Wednesday and abducted him. Meanwhile, Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode on Thursday directed the State Police Command to ensure prompt arrest of kidnappers who struck on Wednesday evening in Isheri area of the State killing three security guards. The kidnappers were said to have also abducted the Secretary of the Isheri North Residents Association, Mr. Dayo Adekoya. A statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, said Governor Ambode has already directed the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni to move decisively and promptly to arrest the kidnappers. Governor Ambode, according to the statement, specifically commiserated with the families of the security guards that lost their lives to the unfortunate incident, and assured that government is on top of the situation and working with security agencies to ensure early release of the victim. The Daily Times gathered that one of the gunmen scaled through the fence of the victim’s house and opened the gate for other gang members who later gained access into the main compound. Follow @NigeriaPI The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 arraigned the quartet of Umar Audu Bida, Truth Igogori, Ifenyinwa Nwankwesiri and Ogechukwu Obaji before Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court sitting in Maitama, Abuja on a 9-count charge bordering on conspiracy, forgery and obtaining by false pretence to the tune of $1million (One Million US Dollars). The accused were arraigned alongside four companies: Universal Contractors, Lambda Energy Services Limited, Double Wonder Concept Limited, and ICS Energy Services Limited. Bida and his co-accused sometime in 2014 allegedly conspired to defraud one Donald Latella of North Park LLC of $1million under the pretext of supplying about two million barrels of Bonny Light Crude Oil. The offence contravenes Section 8 (b) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006 and punishable under Section 1 (3) of the same Act. Count 2 of the charge reads: “That you, Umaru Audu Bida, Truth Igogori, Ifenyinwa Nwankwesiri, Ogechukwu Obaji, Universal Contractors, Lambda Energy Services LTD, Double Wonder Concept Limited, and ICS Energy Services Limited and others now at large, sometime in 2014, within the Judicial Division of the Federal High Court of Nigeria attempted to obtain the sum of $1,000,000.00 (One million United States Dollars) from Donald Latella of North Park LLC under the false pretence of supplying about 2 million Barrels of Bonny Light Crude Oil which you knew to be false and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 8 (b) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006 and punishable under Section 1 (3) of the same...

The suspect George Onuh who was accompanied by his gang member still at large had waylaid and dispossessed their victim one Bola who was carrying a large sum of money just withdrawn from the bank. The alarm raised by the victim attracted the police operatives on patrol around the vicinity, who trailed the suspects to law school area where one of the suspects was apprehended and the cash recovered from him while the other fled with the motorcycle used for the operation. The victim while narrating her ordeal to the police, said she had gone to GTBank on Adetokunbo Ademola street to withdraw some cash, and in the banking hall she sighted the suspect and thought he was a customer but was surprised when the same supposed customer waylaid her and pointed a gun at her to dispossess her of her money. The recovered money was subsequently handed over to the victim. The exhibit recovered from the suspect is one locally made pistol with six rounds of live ammunition. The command had in October last year smashed a six-man gang of suspected armed robbers who has snatched two Toyota Corolla cars from their owners at gunpoint at different locations in Umuahia. Speaking in Umuahia while parading some suspected armed robbers, the Commissioner Police (CP) LeyeOyebade said that since the command smashed the syndicate that they have been after the receiver of the stolen vehicles. Oyebade said that with the synergy of other security agencies in the state that they were able to arrest Ikechukwu Chukwuma John with the help of the Akwa Ibom state police command at Uyo in connection with the kidnapping of Celestine Ositadinma Nwankwo.
