Follow @NigeriaPI Determined to eradicate all forms of crimes, the Delta State Police Command has arrested 12 students of Osadenis High School Asaba, over their alleged involvement in cult activities and other related vices. The command also arrested a fake policeman, and also discovered a explosive devices that was to be used to bomb Agip Oil Company facilities in Ndokwa area of the state. Briefing journalists in Asaba, the Police Commissioner in the State, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim, said the students were arrested on a tip-off during initiation of a new cult group identified as “Future Trigger Boys.” He said that investigation of their involvement in the cult activities was ongoing as the police will leave no stones unturned to bring to book all secret cult members in the state. On the fake policeman, the police boss said that the suspect identified as Chiemeka Telvin (43) was dismissed from the force in 2006, adding that since then he had been indulging on illegal activities such as escort to high profile businessmen and women who unknowingly reward him with huge sums of money before nemesis caught up with him. Follow @NigeriaPI Armed men, suspected to be cultists, have attacked a police station in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State and freed two of their colleagues in detention. It was learnt that the attackers had gained access to the police station located in Ibillo after disguising as relatives of their colleagues on February 2, 2017. They were said to have shot sporadically, killing a woman in the process. The attackers were said to have successfully freed their colleagues and run away. Confirming the report, State Commissioner of Police, Haliru Gwandu, said that the freed suspects had been arrested for alleged rape. He said, “Two rapists were arrested at Ibillo and unknown to the police, the suspects were cultists. Their members went to the police station. “But the police did not know they were there to rescue their members. There was sporadic shooting and an innocent lady was hit and killed.” Gwandu, who spoke while briefing journalists on Friday, disclosed that some of the attackers were later arrested on February 8. Follow @NigeriaPI The South African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau (SANEB) in Johannesburg on Tuesday, February 7, 2017, arrested a 37-year-old Nigerian woman for dealing with hard drugs. She was busted after Police followed up information about drug dealers in Buccleauch. The woman identified as Clara Maduka was caught with 594 wrapped cocaine rocks at an estimated value of R90 000. Maduka appeared before the Alexandra Magistrates Court on Wednesday for dealing in drugs and was remanded in custody. Follow @NigeriaPI An Abuja High Court has okayed a soldier, Lance Corporal Oge Etudo to die by hanging after he was found guilty of r*pe and culpable homicide. The 30 years old convicted soldier was said to have on March 27, 2014, at Dei-Dei, a suburb of the FCT, abducted, r*ped and stabbed a married woman identified as Binta Usman Kadede to death inside the bush. The soldier was previously attached to a battalion of Nigerian Army at Lungi Barracks in Abuja. He as found to have acted in breach of sections 220 and 221 of the Penal Code law. Trial Justice A.S. Adepoju who declined plea of allocutus by the defence lawyer, stressed that pictorial evidence adduced before the court showed that the defendant gruesomely murdered his victim. “I will not also show mercy to him”, the Judge who was almost moved to tears declared. Consequently, the court convicted the defendant on a two-count criminal charge that was entered against him by FCT commissioner of police. The defendant had earlier pleaded not guilty to all the charges. He equally entered a no-case-submission after the prosecution closed its case after it called four witnesses and tendered 21 exhibits. Following the dismissal of his no-case-submission, the accused soldier decided to testify for himself, maintaining that he was innocent of the charge. While denying knowledge of the crime, the defendant who was earlier dismissed from the Army, told the court that although he was at Dei-Dei on the date of the incident, he said he was only there to see a friend called Igwe to discuss his wedding plans with him....

Follow @NigeriaPI A yet-to-be identified farmer has been reportedly killed in Orisunmibare, a disputed settlement between Ayede-Ekiti and Itaji-Ekiti in Oye local government area of Ekiti State. The killing of an Ayede indigene, Seyi Oladipo, over the land dispute had last week sparked a wild protest as the youths of the town stormed Itaji to protest his death. His assailants were said to have trailed the farmer to his farm where they inflicted several machete cuts on him before cutting off his head and hands after which they made away with severed head. A Chief in Orisunmibare it was learnt was also sustained machete injuries wounds by suspected Ayede youths who accused him of firing the shot that killed Oladipo.
