Follow @NigeriaPI A mother of seven, Mrs. Uzoamaka Onu, 39, has been abandoned by her husband at the New Mayor Hospital and Fertility Centre, Nkpor in Anambra over a bill of N520,000. The woman had stayed in the hospital for four months following the non- payment of the bill. Uzoamaka, a food vendor from Okpoto community in Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi, told the News Agency of Nigeria that her husband had absconded and abandoned her to her fate. She said that she had lived in the hospital for four months and every attempt to reach her husband had failed. “My husband stopped visiting the hospital after I successfully underwent a surgery on my right breast,” Uzoamaka said. Innocent allegedly committed the offence sometimes in August, in Lekki- Ajah area of the state. Innocent was a driver to the aunt of one of the 13-year-old girls, who was allegedly raped. Lateef, on the other hand, was an Okada rider, who forcefully had sexual intercourse with a 13-year -old girl (names withheld). “Lateef on September 12, at about 4 p.m at Oja Oba Market, on Lagos Island, forcefully had canal knowledge of a 13-year-old girl. He had sexual intercourse with her without her consent,” the police told an Igbosere Magistrate Court. Both men, however, denied the allegations against them. Our correspondent learnt that Adebayo, a 400-Level student of Computer Science, allegedly lured the ladies by uploading some rich pictures on Facebook, and asking his victims to meet him at a location, usually a hotel on the pretext that he had deals for them. PUNCH Metro gathered that when the ladies showed up at the agreed location, the suspect would dispose them of their phones and other valuables. The police alleged that Adebayo worked with an accomplice, 35-year-old Toheeb Fetuga, who had also been arrested. It was learnt that the suspect was arrested by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Ikeja, where one of the victims reported the matter. Adebayo told PUNCH Metro that he had defrauded seven ladies of their valuables. He said, “One of the ladies I defrauded was Rita. She came to a hotel in the Oyingbo area. She, therefore, urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and Skye Bank to lift the restriction on the accounts. Patience said this in a letter with reference number GA/Abibo/00226/2016, written by her lawyers, Granville Abibo (SAN) and Co, which was addressed to the Acting Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Ibrahim Magu. The PUNCH had reported that the four accounts belonged to the following companies: Pluto Property and Investment Company Limited, Seagate Property Development and Investment Company Limited, Trans Ocean Property and Investment Company Limited and Globus Integrated Service Limited. A houseboy, a driver and other domestic workers of a former Special Adviser on Domestic Affairs to Jonathan, Waripamowei Dudafa, were named as directors, but Patience’s $15m was lodged in the accounts and she was given a platinum card and exclusive access to the accounts. In a survey by The Guardian, most of the respondents, who were mostly students of tertiary institutions, described the scheme as a less-risky venture, which if successful, leaves participants smiling. The MMM, according to information on its website, is a trending financial scheme which promises to create a community of people providing financial help to one another on the principle of gratuitousness, reciprocity and benevolence. Registered members help each other by providing a certain sum of money (as ordered by the operators of the scheme) and such paid amount is expected to yield a 30 per cent increase at the end of the month. At any month end, members could withdraw their invested amount as well as the added interest through a similar means of being paid by another participant. By operation, the scheme, which platform is Nigeria., has no central system or account. However, SEC, in a recent statement on its website, disclosed that the system was a ponzi scheme, alleging that the facilitators were online fraudsters who promise high rates of return with little risk to investors. Suinner, together with his cohort, allegedly hijacked the email address and letterhead of a company named Greenview Development Nigeria Limited and used same to write a letter to Access Bank Plc to transfer the sum of N25, 000,000 (Twenty Five Million Naira) to the account of ICT Aid Foundation Cooperative Society domiciled with United Bank For Africa, UBA. The money was allegedly transferred on July 14, 2015. Also, the suspected fraudsters, on July 22, 2015, allegedly wrote to Access Bank to transfer of the sum of N12, 000,000 (Twelve Million Naira)| to the account of one Tee-EM Nigeria Limited domiciled with UBA. One of the charges reads: “That you, Jules Suinner, on or about the 13th day of July 2015, in Abuja, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to obtain money under false pretence, conspired with ICT Aid Foundation Cooperative Society (still at large) and others (still at large) to fraudulently impersonate officials of Greenview Development Nigeria Limited.” The suspect pleaded not guilty to the charges when they were read to him. It was later gathered that the two students had left their hostel at Suzy area to Citadel Hostel about 11p.m. on Monday, they had not been seen by their parents, fellow students, and relatives till date. The President, Nigerian Association of Computer Science Students (NACOSS) in the university, Mr Yusuf Oluwakalo, said Eke and Akinduro were said to have gone to Citadel Hostel to sort out their project issue but did not reach the hostel.
