Follow @NigeriaPI NAN, The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), in Sokoto state, says it has arrested a couple for allegedly burning the male organ of a 17-year old teenager, name withheld, over rape allegation. The Commandant of the Corps, Mr Babangida Abdullahi, confirmed the arrest in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto on Wednesday. Abdullahi said that the couple, name withheld, were arrested on Tuesday, at their Sama residence, Sokoto. He said:” They alleged that the teenager, a Senior Secondary School three students, raped their four-year old daughter. ” So, they sponsored some boys who seized him on March 24, took him to the suspects’ house, the suspects severely tortured him and burnt his manhood. ” They also locked him up in a toilet up to the following day, March 25. ” The victim was later taken to the Specialist Hospital, Sokoto, where he is responding to treatment.” Abdullahi said that the couple was arrested on March 28, for allegedly taking the law into their hands. The commandant further said that the suspects would soon be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of thorough investigations. The Father of the victim, Abdullahi Ibrahim, a Teacher at Sultan Bello Secondary School, Sokoto, appealed to the state government to assist the family in seeking justice for his son. He also made similar appeal to the Sultanate Council of Sokoto, local and international human rights groups, among others. Follow @NigeriaPI A man identified aas Gambo Saeed has been arraigned before the Kastina State magistrate court by men of the Nigerian Police Force, NPF, represented in court by Police Prosecutor, Insp. Isa Liti on grounds that the accused intentionally insulted and defamed the state governor. The arraignment came in pursuant of a complaint filed by Mr Mansur Ali Mashi, the Senior Special Assistant,SSA, on Radio Monitoring to Kastina State Governor, Aminu Masari. Gambo who appeared before the court on grounds of intentional insult, defamation of the governor’s character and inciting disturbance was handed a 9-month-jail term by the court with the option of a fine. The judgement delivered against the accused is in accordance with sections 399, 392 and 114 of the Penal Code. The Police prosecutor said: “Mashi said the accused person abused Masari and called him names on social media. He said the accused person posted on the media that it was Gov. Masari who influenced the impeachment of Speaker of Katsina State House of Assembly, Aliyu Muduru.” The Chief Magistrate of the court, Abdu Ladan while delivering his judgement on Monday said the accused was found guilty of the charges leveled against him which attracts a maximum sentence of three years each. Follow @NigeriaPI A man, who allegedly severed the head and wrists of a 72-year-old woman, identified as Funmilayo Shada, has been arrested by men of Ogun State Police Command. The suspect, Adeoye Ikugbayigbe, told the police that he committed the act because he had been having a running battle with the deceased over a parcel of land. The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said Ikugbayigbe severed the 72-year-old woman’s head and wrist in Abigi, Ogun Waterside, Ogun State. Oyeyemi explained that “the arrest followed a report by the son of the deceased, one Ekundayo Shada, who complained at Abigi Divisional Headquarters that while he was on his way to the farm to meet his mother, he came across Adeoye Ikugbayigbe on the road holding a polythene bag. “But as soon as he sighted the suspect, the suspect dropped the bag and ran into the bush. This aroused his suspicion and he quickly ran to check on his mother, but could not find her. “He later came back to check the bag dropped by the suspect, only for him to discover his mother’s head and her wrist in the bag. “He quickly reported the case to police and the DPO of Abigi Division, SP Komolafe Omoniyi, led detectives to the scene, combed the surrounding bushes and finally got the suspect arrested. “On interrogation, he confessed to the commission of the crime, claiming that he has been having a running battle with the deceased over a parcel of land. “The severed head and the remains of the deceased have been deposited in the mortuary, while the cutlass...

Follow @NigeriaPI An Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Monday slammed a N10 million bail on a 31-year-old sales representative, Uche Onwuma, who allegedly obtained goods worth N53. 4 million under false pretences. The Magistrate, Mr B. A. Sonuga, who gave the ruling, said the accused should produce two sureties in like sum, one of who should be a blood relation of the accused. In addition, he said the sureties should show evidence of three years tax payment to the Lagos State Government. The accused had pleaded not guilty to a four-count charge bordering on fraud and stealing. The Prosecutor, Insp. Ingobo Emby had told the court that the accused committed the offences sometime in 2013 at Shop A14, Imo Plaza, Balogun Market at Trade Fair Complex on Lagos-Badagry Expressway. According to him, Onwuma obtained cartoons of perfumes worth N43. 4 million and 1,047 cartoons of Shampoo worth N10 million from the complainant, Nkem Onyenka, on the pretext of selling the goods and remitting the proceeds to Nkem. The accused failed to remit the proceeds to her as promised, he said. Follow @NigeriaPI An Oyo State Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Iyaganku, Ibadan, on Monday remanded two men, Uba Opara, 35; and Tunde Adepoju, 27; in prison for alleged armed robbery. The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Kehinde Durosaro – Tijani, said the accused should be remanded in Agodi Prisons and the case file sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice. Durosaro-Tijani adjourned the case till May 22. The accused, whose addresses were not given, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and armed robbery. Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Adewale Amos, had told the court that the accused committed the offences with others still at large on Jan. 14, at about 2.p.m. at Taye Soyege Street, New Bodija, Ibadan. Amos said the accused, who were armed with a double barrel gun and a cutlass, robbed one Jekayinfa Olayinka of his Toyota Camry car valued at N11.5 million. “They were, however, caught by some policemen on duty,’’ he added.
