Delta State: Police Recover 4 Bodies of Slain Officers

Follow @NigeriaPI The Police in Delta said they had recovered corpses of four of its officers allegedly killed by suspected militants on May 15. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Mr Andrew Aniamaka, confirmed the recovery to newsmen on Thursday in Warri. “The militants will be fished out, as investigation is ongoing on the matter,” he said. The deceased policemen were allegedly killed by the militants along the Benin river. The victims were simply identified as Aghoro (Commander), Sagay, Andrew and Mejer and their bodies have been deposited at both Sapale General Hospital and Central Hospital, Warri. Their vandalised boat has also been taken to Abiugborodo community under the care of some soldiers. A reliable source said that the policemen were invited by the militants to come and collect money to pave way for them to carry out their illegal bunkering. They were said to have ventured into the journey at about 2:30 a.m. on that fateful day without a back- up patrol boat. “Only one, Mr Ugbo on board the boat swam to safety with bullet wounds and is currently recuperating at an undisclosed hospital,” the source said. Follow @NigeriaPI Ogun State Police command has smashed a six-man kidnapping gang who lured a man, Femi Olatunji, from his home in Isheri area of Ogun State to Igbokoda, Ondo State, where they snuffed life out of him, after they had collected ransom. The suspects were Fadeni Henry, Lebile Olatunji, Ehuwa Oririe, Olotu Tosin, Oluwole Ohunayo, and Peter Omogbemi. The leader of the gang, 23-year-old Fadeni Henry, was said to struck a relationship with the victim on the social media, and he lured him to their base in Igbokoda on Friday 12th May,2017. Parading the suspects last Friday at the headquarters of Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Abeokuta, the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, said the wife of the victim had reported the kidnap of her husband to the police on Friday 12th May, 2017. He said immediately, the command’s detectives, men of the Anti-kidnapping unit and Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad were deployed. The source told Sunday Punch that some arrests may have been made, but that the information was being kept as top secret so as not to add to the public tension. Some other sources who spoke to our correspondent on Saturday also noted that the establishment of an army unit in Daura, Katsina State, on Friday, named Muhammadu Buhari Forward Operation Base, by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, was an effort to fortify the president’s hometown and a public pledge of loyalty. On Tuesday, Buratai, in a tense language, had warned officers and soldiers to steer clear of politics, as information had reached him that some officers were involved in political meetings for “undisclosed reasons.” The army chief had advised officers and soldiers interested in politicking to resign from the service, as any officer caught would be severely penalized. Three days after the alert (Friday), Buratai went to Daura, where he inaugurated the army unit, and paid a courtesy call on the Emir of Daura, Dr Faruk Umar. Follow @NigeriaPI An Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court on Friday ordered the remand of 29-year-old security guard, John Eboh, over alleged sexual assault on a 16-year-old girl. The defendant was arraigned on a four-count charge, bordering on unlawful and indecent assault, unlawful sexual intercourse, among others. The prosecutor, Sgt. Kehinde Omisakin, had told the court that the offences were committed on May 1, at about 6. p.m., at Consolidated Hallmark Insurance PLC, Obanikoro Road, Lagos. Advertisement She said that the teenager, who was hawking kerosene, was unlawfully detained and assaulted by Eboh. “He took her inside one of the office rooms and started squeezing and fondling her breasts before having sexual intercourse with her,” she said. Abubakar Madaki retired as a Superintendent of Police in December of 2013 from the EFCC where he was assigned. Madaki was called back by Magu months after he was appointed as ​head of​ the EFCC. During Madaki’s initial stay at the EFCC and in his second arrival, he allegedly acquired choice properties across the country worth billions of naira. According to sources, he allegedly acquired a N450million house in Wuse 2 and another house for his lady friend in Wuse zone 4, worth N200 million.
