EBONYI State Police Command, weekend, arrested a middle-aged man, Eze Shedrack, for allegedly forging the state’s Deputy Governor’s letter-head, stamp, signature and letter of recommendation for the purposes of securing a lecturing job at Ebonyi State-owned University, EBSU, Abakaliki.
The suspect, Eze hails from Nsukka, in Enugu state. He was, however, arrested by the police and taken to Criminal Investigation Department, CID, of the state Police Headquarters, Abakaliki following a tip-off.
But the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Jude Madu, said he was yet to receive official report on the matter.
However, one ASP Nworie at the state CID is said to be the Investigative Police Officer, IPO on the matter.
Speaking with Vanguard, Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Mr. Monday Uzor, said his boss, Dr. Kelechi Igwe, was astonished when he saw a recommendation letter from the suspect, directing that he (Eze) be given a lecturing job in the state university.
According to him, the deputy governor never issued such a letter to anybody.
He said: “Because of this, my boss directed the Deputy Chief of Staff in the Government House to investigate the matter.
“When the Deputy Chief of Staff visited the university on investigation, it was discovered that the Deputy Governor never issued such letter to anyone.
