38-yr-Old Businessman Remanded In Prison Over Alleged Treapass In Nasarawa.

A Masaka Magistrates’ Court, Nasarawa State, on Tuesday ordered the remand of 38-year-old businessman, Thomas Avaan, for alleged conspiracy and trespass.
The complainant, Francis Oyebode, a businessman, told the court that one James Abu, now at large, sold a plot of land, located at Auta Balefi, Nasarawa State to him some years ago.

Oyebode said that Avaan was a witness to the transaction between him and Abu.

He told the court that he erected a building on the land up to lintel level, with the knowledge of both accused persons, without any challenge from them.

“It was with uttermost shock and surprise, that on Feb.11, I saw Avaan trespassing on the said land.”

“I saw Avaan digging a hole on the land, when I approached him, he told me that Abu instructed him to do it,’’ the petitioner said.

Oyebode said that he reported the matter at the police post at Goshen Aute Balefi, Nasarawa State.

He said that at the police station Avaan threatened to deal with him.

The complainant said that the police have taken sides with the accused.

The offences contravened the provisions of Sections 97, 327, 348, 178 322 and 397 of the Penal Code.

The plea of the accused person was not taken by Magistrate Victor Manga.

Manga ordered that the accused person be remanded in prison to serve as deterrent to others.

He ordered that the other accused who was absence in court should be brought to court in the next adjourned date.

Manga adjourned the case till March 16, for further mention.
