Follow @NigeriaPI The Borno Police Command has commenced raids of criminal hideouts and black spots to ensure a peaceful Easter celebration in the state. Motorists and tricycle operators are also warned against violating traffic rules and regulations during the four-day celebration. Spokesman of the Police, Victor Isuku in a statement issued yesterday, said that drivers and tri-cyclists are to avoid all forms of recklessness, drug abuse and drunkenness, while plying the roads and highways. He also assured worshippers of the safety of their lives and properties, while parents are advised to take proper care of children and wards to prevent them from going missing during the festivities. Police Arrest Three Fake Army Recruitment Officers In Imo

Follow @NigeriaPI The Imo State Police Command has arrested three fake army officers who specialize in defrauding unsuspecting applicants wishing to join the Nigerian Army. The suspects – Kinsley Inyang, EdetOkon and Victor Akpan – all from Akwa Ibom State were arrested atAmakohiaUbi in Owerri West local government area of the state. The new commissioner of police in the State, Chris Okey Ezike, disclosed this in his maiden media briefing at the Police Command Headquarters in Owerri. According to him, investigation had revealed that the affected candidates were ignorantly mandated by the suspects to pay the sum of eight thousand naira and seventy thousand naira for medical test and recruitment/training exercises respectively, adding that they are currently undergoing interrogation and would soon be charged to court. CP Ezike who is the 32nd commissioner of the police in the state said that he would adopt a high visibility policing method to rid the state of all criminals and their collaborators in the state. Professing his determination to fight serious crimes of armed robbery, kidnapping, cultism and other violent crimes with renewal vigour and commitment, he noted that arrest of suspects, rescue of kidnapped victims and recovery of fire arms/ ammunitions have been made by his men in addition to exhibits recovered. He disclosed that while 10 of the suspects were involved in kidnapping, 12 were involved in armed robbery, two in cultism, and three for impersonation (fake army officers); just as two got involved in tricycle snatching, and another two in child stealing. Follow @NigeriaPI The anti-kidnap unit of Imo State Police Command has rescued a businessman, Ben Kpaduwa, who was recently abducted in Anara Community, Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of the state. Briefing journalists, the state Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezike disclosed that his men who rescued Kpaduwa on April 4, 2017 engaged in a shoot-out with the kidnappers resulting in one of them, Chinedu Imo of Ndiawa Arondizugo, sustaining serious injuries. According to Ezike, the injured lmo later died at a hospital where he was taken to, for treatment. The CP equally disclosed that one Mr. Chika Ihemena was arrested with the victim’s black Toyota Corolla car. Meanwhile, Ezike has also promised to fight cultism, kidnapping, car snatching, those who run baby factories, impersonation and other criminal activities to a standstill in the state. He informed that he intends to explore experiences of the past to bring about good policing to the people of the state. He added that he came to Imo with tremendous goodwill, open-mind and willingness to work with security agencies, the media, market people and all Imo residents to ensure that the state is secure. Follow @NigeriaPI An inmate of the Kuje Maximum Prison, Abuja, Ifeanyi Ezenwa, has been accused of coordinating series of frauds, which netted members of his syndicate millions of naira. According to the Inspector-General Police Special Intelligence Response Team, which burst the syndicate, the members of the gang specialised in defrauding their victims, especially businessmen through the use of fake bank alerts. Ezenwa was described as a notorious fraudster, who had defrauded car and auto spare parts dealers in many states including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. A source at the IRT explained that the syndicate operated by approaching traders intending to buy goods from them. The source said, “After negotiations, they would ask their victims to forward their account number in order to do a money transfer. They would inform their victim that the transfer had been made and the victim would receive an alert to the effect. But when a victim goes to the bank to confirm his balance, the money would not be in the account. “They did this mostly late on Fridays knowing that banks do not work on weekends and the victim may not be able to make any confirmation in the banking halls. “Usually, some victims would release the goods to them. Follow @NigeriaPI The Enugu State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers, who disguised as cattle rearers on the outskirt of Akpugo community near Enugu. The command’s spokesman, Mr Ebere Amaraizu, said on Saturday that the the suspects were arrested after a gun battle on April 11. “The feat was achieved by a painstaking operation after the police received information on the hideout of the criminals in a thick bush outside the community.” Amaraizu said preliminary investigation had indicated that the suspects were from Kaduna and Bauchi States. He said: “It was gathered that suspects had allegedly at gun point, abducted one Mr Amobi Chibuoke, a passenger and a driver Mr Johnson Agah on March 18 and demanded for N10 million ransom which was later reduced to N4 million.” The police spokesman explained that the victims were abducted on Amagunze-Ezza Road while returning from a traditional marriage in Ezza Agu in Ebonyi.
