Follow @NigeriaPI The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency on Saturday said the 55-year-old female hajj pilgrim, Basira Binuyo, who excreted 76 pellets of cocaine last week, had excreted more wraps of the hard drug. The suspect excreted a total of 82 wraps of cocaine. The NDLEA told SUNDAY PUNCH on Saturday that the pilgrim, who was arrested at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja, would be prosecuted. In a statement, the Head, Public Affairs, NDLEA, Mr. Mitchel Ofoyeju, said the suspect tested positive to drug ingestion on her way to Medina, Saudi Arabia while on pilgrimage. Describing her action as shameful and discreditable, the Chairman of the NDLEA, Muhammad Abdallah, said suspected drug traffickers would be severely punished in line with the laws of the land. He said, “It is a shameful act for a 55-year-old mother, who is going on a holy pilgrimage, to ingest narcotics. This is very shocking and a clear indication of her inability to effectively discharge her parental responsibility. The agency shall invoke the powers of the law against her and others caught indulging in the production and trafficking of narcotic drugs.” NDLEA commander at the Abuja airport, Hamisu Lawan, confirmed the total number of wraps of cocaine ingested by the suspect while under observation, the statement said. Lawan was quoted as saying, “Mrs. Binuyo Basari Iyabo, while under observation, excreted 82 wraps of cocaine weighing 931 grammes. The impersonators were nabbed by officials of the 34 Artillery Brigade of the Army in Obinze, during the precursor operations nicknamed “exercise crocodile smile”. Parading the suspects at the Army Headquarters in Owerri, the Assistant Director, Public Relations of the Brigade, Lieutenant Haruna Tagwai, said the suspects had been parading themselves as military personnel using fake identity cards and some military kits to perpetrate criminal acts within Owerri metropolis and its environs. He added that another four-man gang suspected to be members of a deadly cult group in Ohaji/ Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State were also arrested during the operation. Follow @NigeriaPI A housewife, Mrs Fatima Adamu has been arrested by the Police in Niger State for allegedly stealing a day old baby girl from her mother, one Samsiya Auwalu, in connivance with the ex-husband of the baby’s mother. Also arrested was a teenager, Aisha Badamasi, Adamu’s niece who was used to ferry the baby away by strapping her on her back. Adamu was also accused of setting the apartment of the mother of the stolen baby ablaze with liquid substance suspected to be petrol after the theft, in order to cause confusion among the family members of the stolen baby . The incident occurred at Ungwa Kaje in Bosso Local Government Area of the state at about 11: 00a.m last Tuesday, when the suspect was left in the room with the baby. Information gathered by Crime Reports had it that shortly after the theft, the suspect handed the baby over to her niece, Aisha, who accompanied her to the scene of the crime, and instructed her to leave while she remained behind to set some of the clothes in the room on fire with the liquid substance in a container hidden in her bag. The 48-year-old cleric was paraded on saturday at the police headquarters, Asaba, Delta State, along with 43 other criminals arrested for kidnapping, robbery, murder, cultism and car theft. According to the state police commissioner, Zana Ibrahim, who paraded the suspects, 12 stolen children were rescued from the pastor, adding that he allegedly paid N400,000 for each child sold to him. However, the pastor denied any involvement in child trafficking, saying that his business was to help humanity including payment of school fees for children. Trouble started for the pastor when one Aisha Yahaya of Asaba reported how two ladies came to her house as police detectives sent by her husband now serving at Ogwashi Uku prisons. Aisha disclosed that she followed them to a junction where they met one Abigail Nwakama, also known as Madam Cash, who gave her N3,500 to alleviate her poverty and asked her to buy clothes for her one -month-old daughter. In the process, the said child was allegedly stolen by the syndicate, prompting her to raise the alarm which led to the arrest of the two ladies. Follow @NigeriaPI A 38-year-old fake doctor, Charles Nze, has been arrested for allegedly duping a cancer patient of N4 million. Nze, who was paraded at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, claimed to be a dentist from the Calcutta State University, India. The suspect admitted collecting the money from the victim’s family but said it was meant for drugs and equipment to treat the patient. He said: “The cancer patient is a family friend. I decided to assist them and bring the patient from another hospital. I was treating her as an outpatient. “When I commenced treatment on the patient, she was getting better. But suddenly the family discovered that I was a dentist and said I overcharged them. Then, they requested that I refund N2 million out of the money they gave me for the treatment. “It was when I could not return the N2 million that I was arrested by military policemen at Obalende Barracks. The military police later handed me over to the police. “Three weeks after I started treating the patient, she started getting better.
